I’m going to eat the Akakara cup noodles.

It’s been a long time since I last visited Akakara—ever since my child was born.
I’m planning to go there once my child is old enough to eat spicy food.
I found an Akakara-flavored cup noodle, so I’ve decided to try it out ahead of time.

As for the taste…
Since it’s “Akakara-style,” it has a flavor profile somewhat reminiscent of the ramen you’d have at the end of a hot pot meal.
Because it mimics that “finishing ramen” style, it doesn’t feel overly spicy.

I think the spiciness level is just right.
It goes down easily.

It’s a cup noodle I’d definitely buy again.
Memo: A brief introduction to “Akakara”
The main topic of this article was the Akakara instant cup noodle.
To be honest, I have only visited the actual restaurant a few times myself.
Still, I’d like to introduce Akakara based on what I know.
What is Akakara?
Akakara is a Japanese izakaya (pub) chain.
Its signature offering is nabe (hot pot)—specifically, spicy hot pot.
Most people come to Akakara to eat this spicy hot pot.
The spiciness makes it a perfect match for alcohol.
They also offer an extensive izakaya menu.
You can find most of the standard dishes typical of a Japanese pub.
The dining experience is a two-stage affair: you enjoy various izakaya dishes while the hot pot cooks, and then you enjoy the hot pot itself once it’s ready.
And since it is a hot pot meal, you can also have a “finishing dish” (like noodles or rice added to the remaining broth) at the end.
It’s convenient and practical, as the finishing dish doubles as the final bite to go with your drinks.
A few things to note
There are similar chains that specialize in shabu-shabu (Japanese hot pot where you swish meat in broth).
Examples include “On-Yasai” and “Shabu-Yo.”
While those shabu-shabu places are known for all-you-can-eat options, Akakara generally does not offer all-you-can-eat dining.
Instead, the style is to order exactly what you want to eat.
While a few locations might offer all-you-can-eat, it is very rare.
However, you can rest assured that all locations offer all-you-can-drink options.
