Memo: Lifespan of home appliances
Some things break quickly, like in this article, but some don’t break until you replace them.
How long do home appliances last?
I’m very curious. I looked into it.
Lifespan of typical large home appliances
The lifespan of large home appliances is often as follows.
Refrigerator: about 13 years
Washing machine: about 10 years
TV: about 11 years
Air conditioner: about 14 years
Desktop computer: about 7 years
Laptop computer: about 5 years
Why do home appliances break?
When designing, it is to design so that they do not break within the law and the company’s warranty period.
The parts are selected and designed taking into account the strength and number of uses that will withstand the warranty period.
It is not surprising that they break at any time after the warranty period.
It is impossible to make something that will never break, and if you make something that will last for decades, it will become too large and expensive to sell.
The manufacturer’s skill is shown in making something with a reasonable lifespan at a reasonable price.
Causes of things that break quickly
If something breaks within the warranty period, it could be due to the following reasons:
A defective batch of parts used
Improper manufacturing process
Improper design process
There are many other reasons.
However, all of these, including the above, are things that you cannot prevent with your own efforts.
What to do when something breaks
If something breaks, immediately request a return or exchange.
It’s a hassle to deal with, but it’s frustrating if it remains broken.
If it’s within the warranty period, it will often be repaired free of charge, so please make use of this.
Do your best and don’t give up.
