妻が使っていたXperiaが私の機種より新しいので
それをもらいたいと思います。
I would like to get my wife’s Xperia because it is newer than my model.
妻が使っていたスマホはxperiaで2018年冬モデルです。
My wife’s phone was xperia and it is a 2018 winter model.
今私が使っているスマホはAQUOSで2018年夏モデルです。
The phone I am using now is an aquos and is a summer 2018 model.
妻が使っていたものが半年ほど新しいし、
スペックも上なので
そちらに切り替えたいと思います。
The one my wife was using is about 6 months newer and has better specs.
それに世界のソニー製ですから
なんとなくランクアップした気がします。
And it’s made by Sony in the world, so it’s somewhat of a step up in rank.
ahamo対応の端末だったので
simカードを差し替えるだけで
通信できました。
It was an ahamo compatible device, so I was able to communicate with it by simply replacing the sim card.
アカウントの引継ぎは
やっぱりめんどくさいです。
I still find it a hassle to take over the account.
携帯補償サービス解約します I will cancel the cell phone compensation service.
昨年の10月にバッテリー故障の時に
補償サービスを使いました。
I used the compensation service last October when my battery broke down.
補償サービスのおかげで
2017年製造のスマホが2018年製造のスマホに変わりました。
Thanks to the compensation service, my phone manufactured in 2017 changed to a phone manufactured in 2018.
その当時は1年分新しくなったと喜んでいたのですが、
よく考えるとかなり損をしています。
At the time I was happy to have a new phone for a year, but when I think about it, I lost a lot of money.
この補償サービスには2017年から5年間、毎月550円払っています。

そして新しいスマホが届くときに8250円支払っています。

スマホが壊れる頻度が多くないので
この機会に解約します。
I don’t break my phone very often. I will take this opportunity to cancel the service.
もし、スマホが壊れた時には
妻のスマホを新しくして
おさがりをもらいたいと思います。

Note: Frequency of phone breakage
According to the Japanese government’s 2021 Survey of Consumption Trends, people replace their cell phones every 4.3 years.
Breakdowns account for 36.5% of replacements, 33.8% are replacements for higher-end models, and the remainder are other reasons.
Breakdowns account for only one-third of all replacements, a surprisingly small percentage.
This indicates that they last quite a long time.
Since the life span of a battery is said to be approximately 3 to 5 years, it is likely that many of the failures are due to the battery.
I have also had to replace or replace batteries many times due to their failure.
In the past, you could replace just the battery in old cell phones, but today’s phones have a built-in battery, so you cannot replace it yourself.
In that sense, the old days were probably more convenient.
Both have their good and bad points.
