久しぶりの農作業 Farming for the first time in a long time
野菜を育てるのは
小学生の授業以来となります。
It will be the first time since elementary school class that I have grown vegetables.
ホームセンターで
鉢、土、石、肥料、スコップを買いました。
I bought pots, soil, rocks, fertilizer, and a shovel at Home Depot.
しかも鉢はあまり水やりをしなくてもよい
ずぼらな人向けのものを買いました。
I bought a type of pot that doesn’t need much watering.
This is for sloppy people.
鉢の下に水受けが付いていて
そこに水を溜めておくことで
頻繁に水やりしなくてもいいみたいです。
The structure has a water receptacle under the pot to hold water.
This eliminates the need for frequent watering.
This will be especially effective in the summer when water is quickly depleted.
天気のいい日を見計らって
子供たちとレッツスタートです。
Let’s start with the kids, looking for a nice day.
At that time we planted sweet potatoes and tomatoes.
We ate the tomatoes as they were.
We made pork miso soup with the sweet potatoes and ate it.
What is strange is that the amount of sweet potatoes we used was less than the amount of sweet potatoes we harvested.
Someone may have eaten them.
Probably the teachers. It is a problem.

近所のお花屋さんに野菜の苗が売っています。
Vegetable seedlings are sold at a local flower shop.
鉢植えで育てることができて
育てやすいものを教えてもらいました。
I was told that I could grow them in pots and they were easy to grow.
一番育てやすいものは、ミニトマトとのこと。
The easiest thing to grow is mini-tomatoes.
保育園の子供でも育てることができるとのことです。
They can be raised even by children in daycare.
子供と一緒に育てることがしたかったのです。
I am buying this because I wanted to grow with my children.
トマトは高いし、子供たちも食べたり食べなかったりします。
これを機に食べれる用になってほしいです。
Tomatoes are expensive and kids will eat them or not.
I want my children to like tomatoes.
一人に一つ鉢があります。
There is one bowl for each person.Each tomato seedling.

自分用の枝豆 Edamame for myself
目標は夏に枝豆とビールです。
My goal is edamame and beer in the summer.
駐車場にプールを置いて
子供たちが遊んでいるのを見ながら
ビール飲みたい！
I wanna put a pool in the parking lot and drink beer while watching the kids play!
枝豆食べたい！
I want some edamame!
そんなよこしまな理由です。
That’s such a dastardly reason.
It’s fun to see kids playing. It may be the best entertainment.
こちらも鉢でも育てやすいと聞いてます。
I’ve heard that this one is also easy to grow in pots.
