出張で香川県に来ました。
I came to Kagawa Prefecture on a business trip.
そして今回は亀山にある

まず、全体的に綺麗。
First of all, the whole thing is beautiful.
接客がしっかりしていて、かつ丁寧です。
The customer service is firm and yet courteous.
亀山に宿泊することがあれば
ぜひ次回も利用したいです。
I would like to use it next time if I ever stay in Kameyama.
部屋の配置がGOOD The room arrangement is GOOD
部屋は初めて見る配置でした。
The room was the first arrangement I’ve seen.
まず、ソファがある。
First, there is the sofa.
そして可動式の机があります。
And there is a movable desk.
ベッドの正面にテレビがありますので
ソファに座ってテレビを見ながら
ごはんが食べれます。
This shape has a TV in front of the bed.
You can sit on the sofa and eat your meal while watching TV.
最初変だなーと思いましたが、
気づいたら
もうサイコーです。
かなり高評価ポイントです。
I thought it was weird at first, but soon realized how good it was.

そしてベッドが広い。
The bed is wide.
テレビも大きいです。
The TV is also big.
洗面所・風呂はきれいでそこそこの広さです。
The washroom and bath are clean and spacious there.
お湯の温度は自分で調整しなくても
好きな温度にできるものです。
The temperature of the hot water is an easily adjustable type.
やさしさに溢れるおもてなし Gentle hospitality
うれしいサービスがありました。
I had a pleasant service.
部屋の机の上にこのチラシが置いてありました。

まず、ホテルのサービス内容が書いてあります。
First, it describes the hotel’s services.
サービスの内容だけでもかなりいいサービスですが、
それをわかりやすく書いていただいています。
The service alone is quite good, but you have written it in an easy to understand manner.
こういうのすごい好きです。
I like this kind of thing a lot.

わかりやすいところに書いてあってGOOD。
It’s written in a clear place and GOOD.
他のビジネスホテルでは
わかりにくいところにあったりするので
とても助かります。

What is hospitality?
When I look it up on the internet, I find many different people writing many different things about it.
As a result of my research, I have come to the conclusion that hospitality is service without asking for compensation.
So what is service without asking for compensation?
I think it is an action based on love, friendship, a sense of mission, loyalty, cordiality, and commitment.
It is an action that you would voluntarily do for the other person.
This is ultimately a self-satisfying behavior.
Here, we consider hospitality in business.
In business, if there is no compensation for services, it is not possible.
Therefore, I think of hospitality in business as follows.
Hospitality in business is service above and beyond compensation.
In other countries, I think that customers respond with tips for services that exceed the price.
I think it is a cool culture.
How about in Japan?
In Japan, employees often refuse tips.
They say.
“We are professionals and this behavior is normal. We don’t need a tip for this behavior. If you like this service, please come back again.”
It is their professional pride.
And the customers will respond to that and use the service again and again.
Japan is pretty cool as well, isn’t it?
Changing the idea, what if the other person is offended by our hospitality behavior?
For example, if we serve the finest beef to a vegetarian, the vegetarian will not be pleased. They will be angry.
This shows that hospitality requires that the other person be feel good about it.
It means that self-satisfied behavior is not enough.
What should we do?
We need to bring our self-satisfied behavior closer to what the other person feels good about.
But that is quite difficult. I can’t do it well.
I think people who can do that are called professionals.
So this hotel is professional.

コロナの時だけでなく
普通に混雑しているときに入るのが嫌なので
こういう細かな気遣いもうれしいですよね。
It’s nice to see this kind of attention to detail because I don’t like to go in when it’s crowded normally, not just at Corona.
