Last November, I went to Disneyland with my family.
My wife, my children, and I all had a great time.
I want to go again.
I need to save money to do that.
First, let me summarize the expenses for the trip.

The breakdown of expenses is roughly as follows.
Travel expenses: 45,000 yen
Accommodation: 120,000 yen

Total: 235,000 yen
It cost more than a month’s salary.
But this was the cheapest time to go.
I’d heard there were quite a few discounts, and since my child was under 4, the following were free:
電車代:大人の膝にのせれば無料
Train fare: Free if he sat on an adult’s lap
Disneyland admission: Free for children under 4
Disneyland Monorail: Free for elementary school students
Toy Story Hotel Restaurant: Free for children under 4
If you add the regular price and child’s price to this, it’s quite an expense.
So I thought it would be a good idea to go once by the time my child was about 3 years old to keep costs down.
Adults can enjoy it with peace of mind, and I think children will enjoy it too.
Memo: Tokyo Disneyland, then and now
Disneyland has changed since I went there as a student.
It was over 20 years ago when I was a student.
I would like to introduce the differences between then and now, as far as I am aware.
Prices
First of all, the prices.
20 years ago it was 6,400 yen for adults.
The price now is 10,900 yen.
It’s about twice as much.
The reason for this is probably the rising cost of labor and fuel such as electricity.
Also, I think they can raise the price because they can maintain the number of visitors by operating with added value.
By raising the price, they can add even more value, so it’s a good loop.
No more fast passes
I found this out on my recent family trip.
Fast passes are gone.
Fast passes were tickets that allowed you to ride attractions first.
I issued one at a ticket machine near the attraction.
I was able to get a ticket for the time I wanted to ride.
By getting this ticket, you could ride the attractions without waiting in long lines.
There was a limit to the number of tickets you could get, so it was customary to run to get a fast pass after entering Disneyland.
Now, the replacements for fast passes are standby passes and premium access.
I’ll give you a rough introduction.
Standby passes
Standby passes are similar to the old fast passes.
You get them through an app, so you need a smartphone and the Tokyo Disneyland app.
You make a reservation by entering the attraction, time, number of people, etc. through the app.
There is a limit to the number of people who can get a standby pass, so it’s up to luck whether you can get one.
Premium access
Simply put, premium access is a ticket that shortens your waiting time for a fee.
It’s the same system as Universal Studios Japan.
The price varies depending on the attraction, and you can only make one reservation at a time.
After you make a reservation and ride the attraction, you cannot make another reservation for a certain period of time.
I would like to use it for pinpoint purposes.
Fun
When I was a child, I just wanted to ride roller coasters.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to enjoy not only the roller coasters but also the atmosphere of Disneyland.
I feel like I’ll continue to enjoy it for a long time to come.
I’m looking forward to my next visit.
